Here at Reify Creative, we’re big fans of libraries. Even in today’s tech age, libraries aren’t just a place for books (even though that alone is pretty cool). Libraries are a digital space, a wealth of resources, and even a third place. Every library has its own unique charm – whether it’s the character of the building, the variety of its programs, or even the enthusiasm of its patrons.
When Ridgefield Library approached us for help redesigning its home page, we jumped on the opportunity. Libraries often have a unique challenge in merging multiple platforms in one space. Plus, the site has to speak to numerous audiences, all wanting different products and services. Lucky for us, this is the kind of challenge we love, especially when we know it’s for the benefit of the general public.
We stopped by the library to get a better feel of the space, and we were not disappointed. Ridgefield Library is full of goodies, surprises, and unique offerings. Its tagline “Here For You” is totally on point – every corner of the library offers something for everyone. It’s a community hub, a creative haven, and a blend of old and new.
Right now, we’re in the middle of the UX phase of this project, rethinking the site’s navigation, creating wires, and conducting usability research. Once we have the bones of the page approved, we’ll move onto design and development, including using API feeds to stream in content from other sections of the site.
Unlike most Connecticut libraries, Ridgefield Library is not a munipal library and is funded solely by contributions. We’re honored to be able to help the library succeed, and make it even easier for its patrons to enjoy everything it has to offer.
