“How do you say your name?” is one of the most common questions we get.
Reefy, is the most common mispronunciation (which brings to mind the 1936 classic movie Reefer Madness), and Rectify was the most interesting misnomer we’ve gotten.
So of course, we were thrilled a few days ago when Merriam Webster made “reify” their Word of the Day. Their primary pronunciation is ray-if-eye (phonetic: rā-ə- fī), whereas we prefer ree-if-eye (phoentic: ˈrē- ə- fī), but we’re not fussy about how you say it. We like “ree” because it sounds like “real” and we’re all about being real over fake every day of the week.

Now that you have a couple of options on how to say it, do you know what reify means?
In short, reification means to make an abstract concept real. To make the intangible, tangible. To give form to an idea. If you’re a fan of manifesting, “making shit happen,” or affecting positive change in the world, we hope you love this word as much as we do.
To us, reification informs our work in ways like:
- Goals becoming results: First and foremost, we listen to your business goals and execute the best strategies for achieving them.
- Personality becoming creative assets: We understand what’s special about your business and will craft compelling creative to highlight your unique brand promise and personality.
- Vibes becoming lasting relationships: Some clients are hands-on, some hands-off. Some like to push boundaries, others have stringent brand guidelines and expectations. Whichever ways you work best, we’ll assimilate in the hopes of developing a long-term relationship built on trust.
Creating something out of nothing is what keeps us going. (It’s also the opposite of “Building Nothing out of Something,” a pretty great album by Modest Mouse, but we digress.)
